Young at Heart (1 Timothy 4:12)

April 3 : "The Heart Transplant" (Psalm 51:10)

Psalm 51:10
10 Create in me a pure heart, O God,
   and renew a steadfast spirit within me.

David Loves 4 Things in Life

I. God’s Word (Ps 119:97 cf. 119:47, 48)
97 Oh, how I love your law! I meditate on it all day long.
47 for I delight in your commands because I love them. 48 I reach out for your commands, which I love, that I may meditate on your decrees.

This love for God's Word is due to the fact that...
     A.
It protects him from sin (Ps 119:11)

I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.
     B.
It revives him in affliction (Ps 119:50)

My comfort in my suffering is this: Your promise preserves my life.
     C.
It gives him great peace of mind (Ps 119:165)

Great peace have those who love your law, and nothing can make them stumble.

II. Prayer (Ps 116:1-2)
"I WILL CALL UPON HIM AS LONG AS I LIVE"
    A.
His love for prayer was based upon the fact God had answered him before (Ps 116:1-2)

1 I love the LORD, for he heard my voice; he heard my cry for mercy. 2 Because he turned his ear to me, I will call on him as long as I live.
    B.
It was based upon the fact that God had greatly blessed him (Ps 116:12-13)

12 What shall I return to the LORD for all his goodness to me? 13 I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the LORD.
    C.
It was based upon the fact that prayer brought God close to him (Ps 145:18)

18 The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.

III. Worship (Ps 119:164a)
"SEVEN TIMES A DAY I PRAISE YOU"
    A.
He praised God because of His righteous judgments (Ps 119:164b)

164 Seven times a day I praise You, Because of Your righteous judgments.
    B.
He praised God because of His greatness and loving-kindness (Ps 95:1-7)

1 Oh come, let us sing to the LORD! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation. 2 Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms. 3 For the LORD is the great God, And the great King above all gods. 4 In His hand are the deep places of the earth; The heights of the hills are His also. 5 The sea is His, for He made it; And His hands formed the dry land. 6 Oh come, let us worship and bow down; Let us kneel before the LORD our Maker. 7 For He is our God, And we are the people of His pasture, And the sheep of His hand.
     C.
And he was determined to sing praises as long as he lived (Ps 104:33)

33 I will sing to the LORD as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.

Many of the Psalms reflect David's passionate heart for worship. "It is good to give thanks to the LORD, And to sing praises to Your name, O Most High; To declare Your loving kindness in the morning, And Your faithfulness every night" (Psalm 92:1-2). I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised… (Psalm 18:3a). Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable (Psalm 145:3). David was a man after God's own heart, because he truly glorified God in his heart!

With these wonderful description of David, why in the world would he ask God for a change of heart?
IV. Women (2Sam 11:1-4 cf. 2Sam 12:1-7)
   A. 8 wives
       1.
He had eight wives: Michal, the second daughter of King Saul;
       2.
Ahinoam the Jezreelite;
       3.
Abigail the Carmelite, previously wife of Nabal,
       4.
Maachah, daughter of Talmai, king of Geshur;
       5.
Haggith;
       6.
Abital;
       7.
Eglah; and
       8.
Bathsheba, previously the wife of Uriah the Hittite.
   B. David’s name came from the root which means delight from love, or lover.
   C. His fourth love lead to his fatal heart failure
   D. Which led him to ask God for a transplant proving once and for all that he is indeed a man after God's own heart.

April 10 : "Trend Setter (Making a Difference Through Modeling)" (1 Timothy 4:12)

1 Timothy 4:12

12 Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity.

a MODEL is someone who..
   Make it first
.
      -
One of the best qualities of Jesus’ leadership style is doing what He tells His disciples first before asking them to do it.

   Open for public viewing.
       - A model shouldn’t be afraid when others look up to them and they wouldn’t mind being scrutinized in public.
     - Doesn't lead a double life
   Deny their own will
     -
Matthew 26:39 (NIV) 39 Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.”
     - Our example should be that of Christ Himself.
    Excellence Driven
     - Philippians 4:8 (English Standard Version)  8Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
     - Mediocrity has no place in our faith we must be looking at things from God’s perspective.
    Level Up
     - What makes life interesting is change and change should happen always for the better.

Conclusion:

Our life then should reflect our faith making it visible for others to see and copy.

April 17 : "Always on the Go" (Ecc. 12:1 NLT)

Ecc. 12:1 NLT
1 Don’t let the excitement of youth cause you to forget your Creator. Honor him in your youth before you grow old and say, “Life is not pleasant anymore.”

The Characteristics of a young at hearts that is always on the go...

I. Ground Breaker
   As ground breaker we have...

A. Unwavering Desire (steadfast, resolute, firm)

B. Un-hibited (shy, withdrawn, self-conscious)

II. Oppurtunist (entrepreneur, speculator, pioneer, investor)- always looking for opportunity

A. Aggressive (violent, hostile, destructive)

                               B. Impulsive (reckless, spontaneous, irresponsible)

CONCLUSION:

We as Christian must acquire this kind of characteristic whether we are young or not so young. Now is the time to be used by God, let us not wait until our body is no longer usable because maybe we may not move or go to other places which God mandated us to reach the lost soul. Let us not make our lives be meaningless just like it says in verse 8, “all is meaningless, says the teacher, utterly meaningless” Let us remember our Creator during our youth days, to honor him.
